Trail Little Moose Mountain<\/p><\/div>\n

On April 7th, Frosty and I headed to the Greenville area to climb Little Moose Mountain. We snowshoe Little Moose several times each winter. It is a favorite. Last night it snowed, so our drive up was gorgeous with the trees all wearing their white coats.<\/p>\n

The trail was beautiful! I love seeing the trees all laced with snow. I had to control myself because I wanted to take photos every 10 feet! Seriously, it was just incredible. The sun was shining. The only negative was that there was a little wind in places. Luckily, it wasn’t bad.<\/p>\n

In some of the open spots, the trees were covered with dripping icicles. The sun was shining on the wet icicles making them sparkle! If they ever do a live action version of Disney’s Frozen, this is the look they would try to achieve, on a much grander scale of course because — hey, it’s Disney!\u00a0 I tried and tried, but couldn’t capture the beauty of this with my camera.<\/p>\n

Then we came to one section of the trail where the trees were covered with hoarfrost. It was pretty from afar, but absolutely stunning up close. Very specific weather conditions have to occur for hoarfrost to form. I am not a meteorologist, so I will not attempt to explain it. All I know is that it is wicked cool!<\/p>\n

The sun was shining on the ice and icicles on the rock ledges as you near the summit area trying to compete with all the other sights this morning.<\/p>\n

The trail was packed snow most of the way, and since it was below freezing the snow stayed firm. There only a couple spots out in the open that with the sun shining on them that were soft, wet, slushy snow. It was a beautiful day to be out on the trail!<\/p>\n
